OPC 2020-2021 Instructional Programs

Safe Return Protocols

·      Indoor instructional programs that are candidates to be adapted for outdoors will be given the option to do so while following the safe return protocols listed below.  Other programs that cannot be appropriately adapted will be cancelled. 

 

·      Outdoor instructional programs will be given the option to continue while following the safe return protocols listed below.

 

·      If instructors or participants feel sick, have symptoms, or have had known contact with someone who has tested positive they must stay home.  They may return to participation after following the CDC guidelines that can be found here: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/if-you-are-sick/index.html

 

 * Those who have had COVID-19 & symptoms may return after:

*  At least 10 days since symptoms first appeared and

* At least 24 hours with no fever without fever-reducing medication and

*  Symptoms have improved

* Those tested positive for COVID-19 but have no symptoms may return after 10 days have passed since test.

* Those who have knowingly been in around a person with COVID-19 should stay home 14 days after exposure.

* Anyone who has had close contact with someone with COVID-19 and who:

* developed COVID-19 illness within the previous 3 months and

* has recovered and

* remains without COVID-19 symptoms (for example, cough, shortness of breath)

does not need to stay home.

 

* It is recommended that a cloth face mask should be worn by both instructor and participants when non-vigorous exercise is being performed.  

 

* Social distancing of at least 6 feet between participants not of the same household will be required.

 

*  Any shared equipment will be cleaned. 

 

* Instructors and participants will be required to dispose of their trash before they leave.

Safe Return Protocols

 * OPC Outdoor programs occur in an outdoor, open air setting with plenty of ventilation, which is a CDC recommended environment for COVID-19 risk mitigation. Many of these take place outside of Oxford City Limits and outside of Lafayette County.


* If the instructor(s)/trip leader(s) or participants feel sick, have symptoms, or have had known contact with someone who has tested positive they must stay home

 * Those who have had COVID-19 & symptoms may return after:

 * Social distancing of at least 6 feet between participants not of the same household will be required.

 

 * Carpooling with members of separate households will not be allowed.

 

 * The quantity of shared supplies and equipment, if any, will be limited per activity.

 

 * Any shared equipment will be cleaned. 


 * Participants and instructors should practice hand hygiene prior to/following any wilderness activities. If clean, running water is not available, hand sanitizer will be available for use.

 

 * Groups will be kept small.
