Fall/Spring Season for youth born 2020-2009.
US Youth Soccer has been in the process of relabeling age groups — moving the word “under” to the opposite side of the numeral to reflect the new player registration by birth year. For example, the Under-10 age group becomes 10-and-Under to clarify those players in the age group can be 10 years old and younger. With this change, the shorthand for labeling age groups will change from U-10 to 10-U.

MINI KICKERS - INSTRUCTIONAL SOCCER PROGRAM
|
The Oxford Park Commission has a new youth instructional program called Mini Kickers. It will be led by Oxford High coach Hunter Crane. This program focuses on introducing the game of soccer to young athletes by teaching basic skills in a smaller group setting geared toward their specific age and skill set. Key fundamentals taught will include dribbling, turning, receiving and striking the ball. These sessions have been held on Sunday afternoons. There will be one in the fall and one in the spring and coincide with our youth soccer seasons, which have traditionally started in August and February.

YOUTH FLAG FOOTBALL
|
The Oxford Park Commission co-sponsors a youth flag football program for kids age 6 – 14 in both the spring and fall. Participants must turn 6 years of age on or before September 1st of the current year.
Games are played on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday nights in the fall. Teams will play one-two games/week.
In the spring, games are are hosted on Wednesday evenings.

OPC’s fast-pitch softball league is for girls ages 5-12 years. The league is sanctioned by ASA Softball. The age of the child as of December 31st of the previous year will determine the player’s age group.

MINI DRIBBLERSMini Dribblers is a instructional program that is open for boys and girls ages 6 to 7. It will be led by Brian Rucker with the Tupelo Saints Basketball Association LLC. Mini Dribblers will focus on the fundamentals of the game, dribbling, passing, shooting, while also incorporating the strategy of basketball.
