Leaves have returned to the oak trees in the parks. The green of spring can be seen around town, and enjoyed by residents who have been waiting to do more outside. But a different look isn’t just for the parks this spring.

The Oxford Park Commission has a new logo, one that provides more consistency with other city departments. It will cut down on confusion by enhancing uniformity. The new logo is the same as for the City of Oxford, which is the green Oak leaf swallowed up by a green circle and black lettering displaying, “Oxford Park Commission.”

“I think the big thing is that we are uniform with our city,” OPC Executive Director Seth Gaines said. “A lot of confusion arose from people thinking we were separate from the city of Oxford and we aren’t, we support them and they support us. We also want to encourage citizens to visit the new activity center, take some classes, and visit the parks. We believe the first step to that encouragement is reminding the citizens that we’re here to promote fellowship and coming together as a community.”

There will be an overhaul of vehicles involving the OPC and branding them with the new logo in time Staff members of the department can already be found sporting uniforms with the fresh design attached.
The staff of OPC would like to encourage citizens to visit their new activity center to see what all the excitement is about and to sign up for their weekly email newsletters on their website for up to date information on all the activities and events that OPC has to offer.
