Youth Baseball League Information

The Oxford Park Commission sponsors a youth baseball league for boys age 5-15. Participants must turn 5 years of age on or before April 30th of the current year. This league is affiliated with
Dizzy Dean Baseball, Inc.

Ages are divided into the following leagues:

Little Sluggers
This is a series of clinics with the purpose of introducing 4 yr olds to the sport of Baseball.  The clinics will focus on teaching the athletes how to throw a baseball, how to use their gloves, how to run the bases and how to safely handle a bat.  There will be an Instructor conducting the clinics who will serve as the Head Coach, while parents will be asked to assist with the practice sessions, just as a normal baseball team would function.

T-Ball

This is an introductory level for 5 year-olds designed to teach the very basic fundamentals of hitting off a tee, catching, throwing and running the bases.  Players practice regularly and play on teams in a fun, non-competitive league.

Coach Pitch

This league is for 6 & 7 year-olds and is a follow up to t-ball Like T-Ball, this league is an instructional league for hitting, catching, throwing and running the bases.  Additonally, players will be required to hit pitches thrown from coaches in this league and keeping score begins.

Sr. Coach Pitch
This is a transitional league for 8 year-olds designed to prepare players for full kid-pitch baseball.  Players will be required to hit pitches from the coach at the kid-pitch distance.  Play is faster than the 6/7 yr old league.

Minors

This league is broken down into two divisions: 9-year-olds and 10-year-olds.  This is the participant’s first taste of full speed baseball and is the first time batters will face other kids pitching.  Teams are drafted based on coaches' ratings during an observation clinic. The action is fast and play is exciting.

Freshman

The 11 & 12 year-old league is one of the most popular in youth baseball.  This division is a step up from the Minors Division.  Kids can lead off and steal, the pitching distance is greater and the length between bases is greater.  Teams are drafted based on coaches' ratings during an observation clinic.

Sophomore

This is the oldest age group offered by OPC with 13 through 15 year olds playing together.  Teams are drafted based on coaches' ratings during an observation clinic. Games are played on a field 250’ in length with 80’ base paths. The speed of the game is much faster.

All games for youth baseball will be played at FNC Park.
Games are generally played Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings.
